I know there are several counterexamples, but in general I'm impressed that Apple manages to keep new products/features under wraps until a major event, and then the product is in stores a couple weeks later with pretty high quality (user experience, reliability, minimal major bugs, etc.) Can anyone who has first-hand knowledge shed some light on how this is achieved with what I assume is quite limited user testing to contain leaks. Even working on products with multiple public betas and customer feedback sessions, it's hard to hit a high quality bar with a product release.

So i am a junior software developer in a large consultant company and have my first salary negotitations soon and need some help. I was told all juniors would increase the same in a sort of collective way since some did not get the same chances when it came to projects and performance, however my boss said there was a small change they would consider giving a larger raise based on performance. I have been lucky and got a very good project, as in I could show my strengths and it's a high value customer. During the project i took a lot of initiative and responsibility, we were 3 developers working on it (2 seniors and me) and luckily one of them is my boss. The project is now being used by the customer and I am the only one maintaining the project and feeling I have taken even more responsibility than was expected. The project was fairly large consisting of 2 frontends and one backend, where I made ~80% of both the frontends and did all the database work on the backend. To be honest being told that my performance wont impact my salary is kind of a bummer considering i have to wait another year for the next possible raise. I can see myself working here for some time, but i feel like saying that would make them feel like they can pay me less as im not going to leave in the foreseeable future. The project is now also being used as a reference to sell consultants to other customers and it has also garnered attention in nationwide news. So my question to you is how should approach the salary negotiation and how should i present my case to my boss? Sorry if this is incoherent, english is not my first language. Thanks.

Be sure to click the `(source)` buttons next to the graphs: you can edit them interactively & write your own queries against the entire data set. The syntax isn't well documented yet, but you can probably get the general idea pretty quickly based on the examples there. If you like it, have questions, etc. let me know! Solar Witch is a little webpage and server which receives and displays messages, so I suppose it's a tiny message board. It's coded in very dubious Arduino C. It's not a 24/7 website. Depending on the state of the battery, the server itself might run all night, but all the messages it receives during the day are deleted at sunset, and the messaging function itself is only active between sunrise and sunset. This is for two reasons: 1. Less usage of Solar Witch during the night conserves battery power. 2. I like the idea of websites which _aren't_ constantly available. Websites which have to sleep too. Websites living on servers which aren't somewhere in the cloud, but which are bound to a particular location, giving you a sense of where in the world they actually live. Solar Witch is very much inspired by the solar-powered version of Low Tech Magazine ( https://ift.tt/uIsQy6V ) and the not-always-online chatroom Gossips Cafe ( https://gossips.cafe/ ), but at a far, far smaller scale. PSA: Solar Witch is a teensy hand-written C server running on a teensy microcontroller attached to a teensy solar panel which can only handle one HTTP request at a time and may have buffer overrun issues due to my ineptitude with C. If it's gone down, please don't be surprised, and rest assured I'll hit the reset button soon! Solar Witch encourages patience.
