Most of what I learned in school about big-O assumes that, for example, random access is O(1). However, random disk reads are really slow due to spacial locality. People who write databases obviously have solutions to this problem - for example, DuckDB is based on a number of papers that have come out over the years on this topic. If I wanted to design, ie, a tree structure which was intended to be read/written from a disk, are there general principles or patterns the have been developed to take advantage of locality of reference, minimize random reads, or decrease the overhead of writes, that I could familiarize myself with? What is the CLRS for disk?

I have a Stripe account that has been going along nicely, regular transactions at a steady but moderate pace -- a few transactions a week at a consistent amounts. I'm a one-person-shop, not a developer, and I integrate with Stripe through my invoicing software. I've been building momentum towards a new product launch that will hopefully change that transaction velocity to dozens, hopefully a couple hundred transactions per day, through a storefront. Now, I am concerned that a significant change in velocity/volume like this is going to set off a flag with Stripe, and I fear that my Stripe account will get nuked, kill the launch, all the momentum I've been building, my reputation, and all my regular business to boot -- if I lose access to Stripe I lose a very significant portion of my business. Even if its just for a couple weeks while I'm "being reviewed". There seem to be many threads here on HN about getting killed by Stripe without explanation, without easy recourse, without customer support or quick resolution -- especially as a small fry like me. Are there any suggestions for a non developer, one-person-shop to avoid this seemingly common pitfall? Why do I think I'll get flagged? In recent history had one invoice that was unusually large for my transaction history -- I landed a really good project. I feared this would set off a trigger with Stripe, and sure enough I was flagged "as a part of our ongoing account review process". Stripe sent very vague and *very "phishy"* seeming emails. After logging into Stripe I had to give access to my bank accounts and get through a "review" of my business. I really feared I was going to be cut off then. So, I harbor no illusions that it will happen again next time should I enjoy a modicum of unusual success. I certainly learned that in the future I have to invoice large projects in smaller incremental chunks and not in the one-lump that the client preferred. But I don't know how to handle if the velocity of transactions changes.

In Germany, founders usually hold their shares in a holding company. This has the benefit that at an exit event you only get taxed 5% if you keep the exit money in the holding company. You can make investments (angel, real estate etc) from your holding company. Only when you withdraw money from the holding company you have to pay personal tax. I am curious do US founders do something similar? Does my situation change because I own a Greencard and will incorporate in the US? Most importantly has anybody recommendations for good German/US lawyers?

Please take action as appropriate for your organization. We hear from you that you want the full richness of Microsoft Teams features on Linux such as background effects, reactions, gallery view, etc. We found the best way to act on this is to offer a Teams progressive web app (PWA) on Linux as a new feature of our current web client, which we’ll make available to our Linux customers in the coming months. PWA enables us to ship the latest Teams features faster to our Linux customers and helps us bridge the gaps that existed between the Teams desktop client on Linux and Windows. The PWA experience will be available on both Edge and Chrome browsers on Linux. We will be retiring the Microsoft Teams desktop client on Linux in 90 days (early December), which is currently available in public preview. All users on the Microsoft Teams Linux desktop client will have to transition to the web or PWA version, which is where we will continue to invest our development resources. We are committed to helping all current customers on Linux start using the PWA app; we’ll publish guidance once we are closer to releasing this feature. Teams PWA is an evolution of our Linux web experience - it offers the “best of the web with key functionalities of client”: zero-install, lightweight, and has a rich set of features. Pipebird is designed to enable companies that generate important data to offer secure data pushes to their customers’ warehouses, directly from their products. Our team was previously building in fintech, where we heard from many of our peers that their customers wanted data pushed directly to their warehouses. Customers wanted to bring data into their source of truth without having to maintain custom built pipelines or introduce security risks by contracting a third-party ETL/ELT provider. After seeing Stripe https://ift.tt/NGhvDxu and customer.io https://ift.tt/culR1Qp recently invest in building out their own native data sharing products, we realized that many SaaS companies could better support their customers and even generate additional revenue by offering native data pipelines. Our goal with Pipebird is to make creating a reliable data pipeline as simple as pressing a button from a vendor's dashboard. With the current iteration of the product, data can be selected from a number of sources (ex: Postgres, MySQL, CockroachDB, etc.), customers can configure pipelines and optionally apply transformations (like type casting), and data can be periodically synced directly to customers’ warehouses (ex: Snowflake).
